Facial hair is difficult to deal with Ladies, I totally get it!. Especially during the quarantine, which is why I’m giving you some professional advice while you are at home. I would hate to see you make any mistakes waxing or plucking your own brows.
If you find the need to tweeze your brows, it’s totally understandable, I just want to give you some do’s and don’ts to help you avoid any devastating errors.
When plucking never cut into the brow line. I consider under, over or in between your brows to be your natural brow line. This is a common mistake that isn’t easy to come back from. Typically my new clients ask me to not wax their brows too thin, that they over plucked when they were younger, or waxed them themselves and they never grew back. This can happen if the hairs have been removed often.
If you have dark brows, maintaining your own brows will be much more challenging then light blonde hair for obvious reasons. If you take a few wrong hairs, there’s no hiding it. Typically too much from one brow is taken, and they try to even the brows, and it goes downhill from there. I usually get a frantic call asking for help! The hardest part for the client is letting them grow back in, so I can correct them later. I can clean them up in the meanwhile, to make the their brow look better, but they really need to let the brow line grow back so I can properly shape them with a line of demarcation. If you have light hair, less coarse and less dense, maintaining your brows is more doable. I want to mention that if you have a lot of peach fuzz around your brows and not much brow, a good waxing will make your brows look thicker and more defined. It’s amazing how that works.
*Never shave your brows and I don’t recommend waxing your brows, too many things can happen. You can burn yourself or your eye, you can drip on your clothes or part of the brow that isn’t supposed to come off. You can drip on your eye lid and the skin is a different texture and can’t tolerate wax. I have a friend that this happened to from a nail salon down the street. I had her come in so I can correct the damage with a hydrating mask and fix the unfinished brow shaping. You all know that saying “wax on wax off?” It’s true! I really want you to understand that if you are using any type of Benzoyl peroxide in your face wash, Retin A, Glycolic acid and a few other anti aging or Acneic products you can literally take your skin off. I have seen it happen. A lot of face wash contains Benzolyl Peroxide.
Facial hair is troublesome, no doubt. Waxing, depilatory or shaving is fine in those areas, as long as you haven’t used the products I stated above. A lot of people get nervous about shaving and think the hair is going to grow in thicker. This really isn’t the case, unless you shave often. It will get you by in a pinch. We have our laser hair removal clients shave before we do their treatments.
One of my favorite products is our mineral brow powder. It’s soft and can give blondes a brow which makes a huge difference. Brows really make your eyes pop and gives you a refreshed look. It works well on thinner dark brows that are thinning.
I hope this helps you all, and look forward to seeing you in the future.
Best wishes,
Tammy
